Engage the Word 2013: Better Together Through Prayer and the Word

Picture
The Bible tells us, "The word of God is alive and active, sharper than any double-edge sword. It cuts all the way through, to where the soul and spirit meet, to where joints and marrow come together. It judges the desires and thoughts of the heart" (Hebrews 4:12).  The Bible is where we learn to hear God's voice.
Engage the Word is a forty day interaction with the Scriptures in order to learn what God is saying to us through His Word.  Each day you are encouraged to PRAY, READ, REFLECT, AND RESPOND.
  • PRAY that God will connect with you as you seek Him in His Word. Be open to what God has for you.
  • READ the selected section of Scripture. Mark intriguing words and phrases, and read them a second time.
  • REFLECT on what captures your attention. Think through what God is communicating to you at this point in your life.
  • RESPOND to the passage. Talk to God about what's on your mind. Listen with your heart. Ask God what actions or changes He desires for your life.

Pastor Norman spoke about the Power of God's Word.  You can hear that message here.

Below are the readings for the forty day emphasis in the fall of 2013.

Did you know...

Reading the Word of God four times a week or more has a significant impact on a person’s world view, attitudinal habits, and behavioral choices?

Recent studies by the Centre for bible Engagement discovered those who engage in Bible reading four or more times per week experience a much higher level of health and emotional stability?

Young people engaged in reading Scripture at least four times a week are much less likely to be involved in sex outside of marriage, gambling, drugs, pornography or other risky behaviours?

Reading God’s Word regularly feeds our hearts and minds with truth and inspiration, ushers us into His presence and invites us to a close communion with Him.
