Warehouse
The Whitehorse Church of the Nazarene supports the Compassionate Resource Warehouse; a registered Canadian charity based in Victoria, British Columbia.
Since 1999, a team of volunteers at CRW have collected, processed, packaged and shipped a variety of donated goods and equipment to responsible charities and other groups around the world. These goods are distributed free of charge to people in need and provide opportunity and hope.
The CRW is dedicated to helping others by sharing our cast-off abundance and wealth with those not similarly blessed. Our society has a superabundance of stuff that continues to have a useful lifespan. We gather these surplus items from our region and add them to new items crafted and donated by volunteers across Canada. All these goods are carefully loaded into 40-foot containers and shipped. All items shipped are clean, appropriate and in good repair.

What Can We Do in Whitehorse?
We are currently involved in two projects:
Bandages Bandages are used as a dressing in our Nazarene hospitals and clinics in some very difficult areas of the world. The bandages are made out of clean sheets that are cut into long strips. Three long strips are sown together (to make an even longer strip), which is then tightly rolled up (with a special jig) and packed for shipping. Pill Bottles Pill bottles are used by our clinics to dispense medication for patients who sometimes walk for miles (if not days) to get care. The pill bottles enable patients to carry medicine in a safe manner back to their home. Pill bottles may be dropped off at the church almost any time. Please note: vitamin bottles (white, not see- through) will not help so please do not bring those. How can You Help?
If you would like to get involved, please Contact Us through our website and let us know you would like to get involved. You can also "drop in" on our next bandage rolling day (see below). Thank you. PLEASE NOTE:
Bandage Rolling (at the church) is usually held the first Saturday of the month, but not always. Please check out announcements page or our Calendar for the next occasion. |
While we are far away from major centres, we are still able to be a part of the solution. We received this letter (March 31, 2020) from Nazarene Compassionate Ministries Canada in response to a donation that we sent earlier in the year.
"I was recently notified of your generous donation to NCM Canada... The $1000 for shipping containers through Compassionate Resource Warehouse is very much appreciated. Recent containes (early 2020) were shipped to Cote d'Ivoire and Mozambique. The container to the Iory Coast was filled with items for a school, clinic, and for ministry to widows and orphans, persons in prison, and women involved in microfinance small groups.... The container to Mozambique was filled with furnishing an equipment for a skill development centre, mechanical and carpentry tools, sewing and hairdressing equipment, pastor training supplies and household items for widows and orphans."
