Session 1: God's Purpose for Marriage
_What if God didn’t design marriage to be easy. What if God designed marriage to make us holy, even more than to make us happy – to help us grow in the nature and character of His
son, Jesus Christ. Download Session 1 Notes Here Watch Session 1 on YouTube Here (much clearer than video on the right). |

Session 2: The Refining Power of Marriage
_In this session we look at the refining power of marriage; the reality that one imperfect person is joined together with another imperfect person. In his book, chapter 8, Gary talks about two continents that collide and build up the Himalayas. In a way, two persons who both stumble collide and through that union something beautiful can come up – but it’s not easy, it’s not without pain. But God can use this intimate relationship to refine, strengthen and grow us in amazing ways.

Session 3: The God-Centered Spouse
_ Most people will treat their spouse the way their spouse has treated them in the last 48 to 72 hours. Kindness with kindness, attitude with attitude, not going out of the way to bless an offending spouse. A God-centered spouse will act out of reverence for God – regardless of how my spouse acts. This is how we maintain a spiritually mature marriage. A spouse-centered spouse will use the spouse’s sin as an excuse not to love.

Session 4: Building a Sacred History
_
Marriage is much more like a marathon than a sprint. Like a marathon, marriage starts with much anticipation and excitement, but once the race begins the trials start. There are times when you simply have to endure. Then you get your second wind, you go on, and there is a great sense of accomplishment when you see the finish line.
