Is There More to Life?

Do you feel like you are walking through this world alone?  Does  anyone care?  Does anyone understand?

Maybe you have a successful career, making “good” money, but something is still missing.  Or perhaps you find yourself further in life and it feels like it has been one mistake after another, and no matter how hard you try you just cannot make it  work. Maybe you have embraced a lonely self-sufficiency and have concluded that this is as good as it gets.

There is more! You are not alone and need not feel alone. “Seek and ye shall find: knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” (Luke 11:9)  Life is an invitation to know our Lord; the God who created us and who loves us wants to give us all that we truly need. From Him flow “rivers of living water” from which we may drink, in which we may bathe.

You are invited to know His joy and peace, to experience the closeness to God that makes life worth living.

God is not looking for “perfect” people, nor is he looking for even “good” people.  He is looking for the needy, the lost and the confused; for people who sooner or later realize that they want and need him in their life, people who sincerely want to have a fresh start with God.

Just take a look at God’s track record.  God forgave cheaters, murderers, adulterers, and even those who had previously turned away from God.  Each found joy and freedom and meaning in life.  The Whitehorse Church of the Nazarene is here because we believe God’s love extends not only to ourselves, but to all of God’s creation; including you.

Besides regular Sunday worship services (10:45 am) the Church of the Nazarene has a number of activities and educational programs throughout the year, to speak to those of all ages about the glory of knowing God.

For children, we have Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, Children's Day and some other annual events..

For youth, we have a vibrant youth ministry, for teens of all ages.  The youth meet on most Friday nights at 7:00 pm.

For adults, throughout the year there are various evening courses designed to help you know and relate to our Lord more closely.

One such program is the Alpha Course (see below).

We also offer workshops on marriage and parenting. And there is ample opportunity for personal one-on-one, confidential counseling with Rev Norman Hajian, and other counselors, to help you face difficult issues in your life, and to point you toward the One who we all need to make our life complete.

Please feel free to contact us whether you are merely curious or seriously in need.
Short Video: Serious Questions.
What is Alpha?
The Alpha course is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith.
  • It’s relaxed, non-threatening, low key, friendly and fun.
  • There is a meal together at the beginning of each session which gives you an opportunity to get to know each other.
  • Listen, learn, discuss and discover.  Ask anything.  Alpha is a place where no question is too simple or too hostile.
  • And it’s supported by all the main Christian denominations.

An Opportunity to explore the meaning of life

What is the meaning of life?

What relevance does Jesus have for our lives?

        What happens when we die?

How do we deal with guilt?

If you would like to explore questions like these, then Alpha is for you.

During the Alpha Course you will enjoy:

1.      Sharing food together - having fun, getting to know new people, and developing a circle of caring relationships happens while we enjoy some refreshments together.

2.      Watching an Alpha video together - learning through a 45 minute video about who Jesus is and what it means to be a Christian.

3.      Discussion Group - is the 'center piece' to Alpha. Here is your chance to ask questions, discuss the video content, in a comfortable, non-judgmental environment.

"For it is in dialogue that our thinking is clarified." Paul Toumier

"Everyone is my mentor in some respect." Waldo Emerson
What’s Involved?
The Alpha course consists of a series of talks looking at topics such as “Who is Jesus” and “Why and how do I pray?” After each talk we divide into small groups for a time of discussion.

Who is Alpha For?
Alpha is for everyone, especially:
  • Those wanting to investigate  Christianity
  • New Christians
  • Newcomers to the church
  • Those who want to brush up on the basics

What will it cost?
There is no charge for the Alpha course, the meals, materials, or childcare.

When and Where?
The entire course will be held over twelve weeks, on Wednesday nights, at the Church of the Nazarene, 2111 Centennial Street.

Bring the kids!  Childcare will be provided.
