Night 88 - October 5
Ranch: For the third time ever we went to this ranch!
The first game we played was capture the flag - girls against guys.
The guys pretty much caught all the girls, and were having a grand time searching for the flag on the girls side when Megan called a jail break!!
Most the guys were on the girls side when this happened, so when the jail break was called all the girls ran back to their side to look for the guys.
It was scary I tell you... we had to lie low in the bushes while they drew near... when they got to close we would have to make a run for it but usually escaped!
The darkness didn't help. It very quickly became dark, making it nearly impossible to find the flags, so we soon ended the game.
Next Janilyn came and gave us a tour of the ranch. We fed the horses hay, and then sat on bundles of their food for a goofy group photo.
Another game we played was Red Rover (I never got called over... sniff... sniff), a game where you must break through enemy lines!
After a few arm breaking rounds we played a good game of tag and went inside for our hot chocolate and devotional.
Thanks pastor Clayton for bringing the candy! It was real good! Clayton's son beat us all at tag - and he's three years old!
We had a very nice evening, and even got back before 9:45pm!
Night 89 - October 12
Swimming and Dodgeball: Last time we went swimming it was in a lake, but seeing that it is getting quite cool outside we decided to go to the Canada Games Center this time.
We had quite a few youth playing volley ball in the deep end of the pool, and we even had a few younger kids join us!
It was quite funny, because even though the main event was swimming we spent more time playing dodge ball in the gym afterwards.
A lot of people who hadn't joined us in the pool joined us for dodgeball - perhaps five or more!
One game of dodge ball involved one team forming a large circle around another team.
The goal was for the team on the outside to throw dodge balls at the team on the inside... but the teams did switch up.
At times it felt like the part in Lord of the Rings where the fellowship was surrounded by the orcs in the Mines of Moria!
Most of us didn't last that long in the center, but we sure got better at dodging those balls!
Night 90 - October 19
Non-wide-Nor-Board Games Night: Hide and Seek in the dark has been a classic game at our youth group, and once again we searched around the church trying to find each other.
Good job to Mayra, the last one to be found!!
Before we got too comfortable we went outside and played elimination tag.
There was one point in which only one person was left to tag, when four of us chased after, surrounded, and closed in on him!
It felt like a pack of wolves closing in on their prey!
Once again we went inside, and played "Honey if you Love me," and wink... the game of winking.
Our devotional was about the end times, and about how Jesus is coming back one day to take every Christian to be with him.
The bible says that the world will go through terrible times before He comes back and that Christians we'll be persecuted.
But wait, there's more!
The good news is that God has promised that those who stand firm until the end will be saved!
If anyone has any quesions about this please feel free to ask!
Night 91 - October 26
Operation Christmas Child: Just like last year, our youth group participated in Operation Christmas Child, a ministry outreaching to kids who can not get Christmas presents due to financial difficulties in third world countries.
People from all over get together and fill shoe-boxes with toys, school supplies, and things that kids need to stay healthy.
These shoe-boxes are then shipped out to poor areas in the world where every child recieves a shoe-box for Christmas - imagine the smiles on their faces!
Altogether, our youth group came up with $300 and filled 13+ shoe-boxes... what an awesome way to reflect God's love to them!
